Direction, Signs, & Parking Directors (3 Remaining)
- Post direction signs on various street poles for incoming participants.
- Direct arriving vehicles to appropriate parking areas.
Pre-Registration Table (4 Remaining)
- Ask each person their name.
- Riffle through alphabetic pile of pre-compiled bib numbers and select theirs.
- Tell them to pin number on their front for collection of the bottom strip at finish line.
- Have several piles of pins on the table for their pick-up.
- Ask for Tee size and get one from the Tee-Shirt crew.
Race Day Registration (4 Remaining)
- Take each person's entry form and entry fee. Make change.
- Select Bib Number from top of pile of blank ones.
- Write in name, age, and any other special info as required for your event.
- Also write bib number on top of entry form for computer input (if Timer using computerized results).
- Have several piles of pins on the table for their pick-up.
- Ask the Tee size and get one from the Tee-Shirt crew.
T-Shirt Handout (4 Remaining)
- Count out size/number required for pre-registrations and separate from those available for walk-ups.
- Pile Tees by size behind registration tables.
- As registration person requests, quickly give them Tee of correct size.
Water, Food, & Beverages (3 Remaining)
- During registration, set out water and cups on a table for pre-race hydration.
- During race, prepare and set out other refreshments for post-race consumption.
Water Station (4 Remaining)
- Set up tables, water containers, pitchers, cups, and trash boxes/bags at designated location.
- Place cups on table in close rows. Pour water into pitchers and then into cups.
- As runners come by, hold out cups in each hand, reaching out toward their path.
- Allow them to grab cup as they pass by. Repeat the process.
- Best to have at least one person refilling new cups on table.
- Put several trash boxes down the course about 10 yards apart to collect most used cups
- Clean up.
Pace Car & Navigator (2 Remaining)
- Assure you know course and have course map. Drive course for practice.
- Arrive at start line 10 minutes before start time.
- Drive about 30 to 40 yards ahead of first runner to assure runners stay on course.
- If there is a U-Turn on any road, pull further ahead to turn vehicle around before leader arrives at turn.
- At finish line, pull off to side or go around finish chute to clear the area.
Finish Area Herders (2 Remaining)
- Direct Milers into their finish area.
- Direct 5K finishers into their finish chute (two rows of traffic cones to contain finishers in single file).
- Tell them to (1) slow down, (2) stay in order, (3) prepare to hand in the tear-off strip on their number.
- The Race Timer will give complete training and supervision - not to worry!!
Tag Collectors (2 Remaining)
- Stand by last cone at far end of finish chute.
- As each finisher approaches, grasp top of bib number, tear off bottom strip.
- Quickly hand it to your partner.
- Partner puts each strip face down onto a spindle (large wire safety pin) in the order of finish.
- Timer will periodically take spindle and replace with another to continue the collection process.
- The Race Timer will give complete training and supervision - not to worry!
Course Marshals (20 Remaining)
- Arrive early for assignment to location.
- Drive to location. Be there by race starting race time, and definitely before first runner arrives.
- Become familiar with direction of course and auto traffic pattern.
- As runners approach, assure auto traffic stops or uses other lane according to plan.
- Point proper course direction to assure runners stay on course.
- Encourage them. Have a good time.
Unassigned Extras (3 Remaining)
- Arrive early for assignment to location.
