Runners from across the region will gather again at Tyler Arboretum, at 515 Painter Road in Media, PA for the 30th annual, unbroken by pandemic, Tyler Arboretum10k Trail Run. The race will be held on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, starting at 9:00AM, rain or shine. Register before March 19th to lock in the low, $42 entry fee. Registration goes up to $45 on that date. Hosted by the historic Tyler Arboretum and presented by the Delaware County Road Runners Club, the race is featured in the USATF Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix Off-Road Running Series. Runners will face a flat half-mile sprint from behind the Tyler barn to the first set of hills, and then volunteer marshals and path markings will guide them around the arboretum and back to the finish line. The 10-kilometer course (6.2 miles) is known to be both fast and challenging for the fittest trail runner and a fun experience for novices, due to its combination of wide paths, frequent elevation changes and 4 shallow creek crossings. The race represents an opportunity for the Tyler Arboretum to showcase its 650 acres of beautiful gardens, fields and trees to runners and their families, who may enjoy the grounds for the rest of race day. A sizable portion of each registration benefits the year-round programs of the arboretum. For the runners, it’s a day to compete in beautiful surroundings and socialize afterwards with friends over a hot drink and snacks. Runners can register online at WWW.TylerTrailRun.com. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in 10-year age brackets, including U-18 and 80+. The special King and Queen of the Hills awards celebrate the top Male and Female Delco RRC members. Results will be posted on the timer's website, Pretzel City Sports, and at DelcoRRC.com. Applications are also available at race sponsor The Running Place in Newtown Square, PA or by contacting John Greenstine, 484-478-1576 and email--TylerTrailRun@yahoo.com. DelcoRRC has been running for fun and fitness since 1972 and is one of the longest-running clubs in the Philadelphia area. Fun runs and walks are scheduled many days a week at locations throughout Delaware County. The club hosts a number of annual events, including the annual Junior Development Track Meet, the Delco High School Cross Country Championships and the "Volkswanderung" Thanksgiving Day run that benefits local food banks.
