Join us for the first-annual 5forCHOP Run, a 5-mile run along the beautiful Manayunk Canal Tow Path to benefit The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). This new fundraiser is a great way to enjoy a scenic trail run at the perfect time of year! The event features: chip timing, prizes for top finishers, a team challenge, kids’ activities, a Flywheel indoor cycling class, pre-race warmup workout, free T-shirts and more! Details for the Race: * 5-Mile Run registrations include performance tech T-shirts (women's and men's sizes) * All Adult registrations receive 1 free drink ticket and a pint glass with the T-shirt * All Youth registrations receive the T-shirt * Free drink tickets are valid for one free beer, bloody mary or mimosa between 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon on race day at the Manayunk Brewing Company (you are welcome to purchase additional beverages and food) The following awards are up for grabs in the 5-mile run: * The top Overall Male and Female Finisher * Age Groups are as follows. Awards will be given to the top male an female in each age group: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ * TEAM CHALLENGE - Get a group of friends, family or coworkers together and form a team! A minimum of 4 runners per team. All times will be combined and averaged. The fastest team will win a restaurant gift card. 2nd and 3rd will receive recognition. Key registration dates: * April 21st deadline to receive a $5 registration discount! * April 30 deadline to be guaranteed a free t-shirt and pint glass--we'll do our best if you register later, but can't make any promises! Also deadline for guaranteed Kids' Fun Zone shirts. * May 16 deadline to pre-register online--registration will be available on race day starting at 7:30 a.m. Attention cyclists! There will also be a Flywheel fundraising event at Flywheel Sports in Bryn Mawr, PA on Wednesday, May 18th, 2016. Donation is $35 per person and includes 1 Flywheel session from 10:30-11:15 am. Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) also requires that no tobacco products are permitted at Venice Island or anywhere under the jurisdiction of PPR. The 5forCHOP Run is being presented by the Care for Rare Campaign, a group of volunteers dedicated to raising research funds for pediatric Evans syndrome and 1,000 other rare childhood diseases. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, selected as the run beneficiary, is in need of more funding to support research in these two initiatives.
