Race week updates: Sunglasses or Slicker! (Run Or Shine) We look forward to seeing you Sunday morning at Bala Cynwyd Park for The Second Annual Storm The Castle 5k Run and Dog Walk! To ensure a pleasant race day experience, here are three important updates for participants and those who are interested in registering day of: 1.) Parking - Parking is limited around the Bala Cynwyd Park, so please allow yourself an extra 10-15 minutes to find parking and walk to the registration tent. Parking is allowed in the following areas: - Businesses at the intersection of Levering Mill Road and Belmont Ave - Sid's Auto, Bala Eye Care, and Mama's Pizza - Levering Mill Road near the Cemetery Trailhead - Local streets labelled for parking near the Bala Cynwyd Railroad Station Parking is NOT allowed in the following areas: - Cricket Club Parking Lot - Bala Cynwyd Park Lot - Volunteers only - Local streets labelled, "No Parking" 2.) Registration - Day of registration and pre-registration bib pick-up opens at 9 AM and the race will begin at 10 AM. Please bring any friends, family, and four-legged friends who would like to participate! Day of registration price is $30. Pre-registration closes Saturday at 8 pm. 3.) Dog Safety - Please keep all dogs leashed at all times. Please remember to bring doggie bags and refreshments for your four legged friend. Will we have water and doggie bags along the course as back-ups. See you Race Morning! Please join us for our 2nd Annual "Storm The Castle". All money raised goes directly to lung cancer research at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. You can participate three ways: run our 5k course, walk with your friends or enjoy our course with your favorite dog, or dogs! The 5k run and dog walk will take place on the beautiful Cynwyd Heritage Trail in Bala Cynwyd, PA. The race will begin and end in Bala Cynwyd Park with live music, sponsor booths and treats for you and your four legged friends. All participants will receive a race shirt and awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers . There will be food, drink, giveaways and the Alfred James Band will perform. With your support we are looking to more than double last year's total. Lung cancer has a LOWER survival rate than Breast, Colon, and Prostate cancer combined and is very underfunded. Storm the Castle was inspired by Martin Kallish, a marathon runner and former marine who was diagnosed in 2008 with stage 4 lung cancer. Marty is LIVING seven years after his diagnosis due to cutting edge research and series of new trial drugs.
