We RUN TO REMEMBER! The 5th Anniversary of Jake Moletzsky's Run2Remember 5K Run/Walk is open to runners, walkers and supporters of all ages! For the fifth year, we invite you to join us as we honor and remember our fallen heroes of the United States Coast Guard, especially Norristown native Jason "Jake" Moletzsky. Jake was one of seven Guardians and two Marines who were lost at sea when his Coast Guard C-130 airplane suffered a mid-air collision with a Marine Corps AH-1W helicopter, on the evening of October 29, 2009. In 2011, a small group of Coasties in the Florida Keys set out to change the way fallen Guardsmen are remembered. Focusing their efforts on action instead of words, they proposed a 100 mile "Run2Remember." Due to its tremendous success, and meaning to the family and friends of the fallen, groups all over the country and world are hosting their own Run2Remember events in their communities. Family and friends of Jake chose to bring this run home. The inaugural Jake's Run2Remember took place on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Since its inception, Jake's R2R has gathered over 1,300 supporters and raised over $75K. Proceeds from the event benefit the Jason S. Moletzsky Memorial Scholarship Fund, awarded to a high school senior at Norristown Area High School with plans to enter the military following graduation. In addition, the event proceeds also benefit the Coast Guard Foundation's Fallen Heroes Fund, providing emergency assistance to the families, friends and shipmates of those Coast Guard heroes who make the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country.
