Alright, so here's the deal... Much has changed this year due to the COVID pandemic and there remain many unknowns about the future. We are planning as if we are having the event. Lord willing, by September, we will be able to do so in a way that looks very similar to years past, but it's important to know that that may not be the case, so buckle up for some disclaimers. #1) Registrations & donations are nonrefundable. Our desire is to have the 5k and the walk, but if we are not able to do so, all of the money raised from this event will still go towards supporting Asifiwe Child Care Ministries. All shirt orders will still be fulfilled and available for pick up. #2) Our desire is for the format to be as similar as possible to years past, but if social distancing measures or anything else is mandated by the state that would cause things to look different (requiring masks, etc) we will have to abide by state rules regarding this. #3) Know that if we can't have an event gathered together at the park, we will have something, be it virtual or otherwise. Our goal to grow awareness and raise support for the growing needs of Asifiwe Child Care Ministries has not changed. That being said, we understand that many have taken a hit financially this year. We don't want that to stop you from participating if you are able! We have lowered the cost of registration to $10/person and encourage anyone who is able to donate above and beyond that to reach our fundraising goal of $5,000. Whether you give $10 or are able to give more, know that everything will still be going toward the needs of Asifiwe Child Care Ministries. Get creative, create fundraising teams, and spread awareness through social media about the work God is doing through Asifiwe Child Care Ministries. This will be a fun event for all ages! We will have FREE raffle giveaways, soft pretzels, baked goods, face painting, balloon animals, and much more to be seen and had at our 3rd Annual Asifiwe 5K! Proceeds from this year's event will go to raising a goal of $5,000 for the growing needs of Asifiwe Child Care Ministries, a non-profit organization in Uganda dedicated to restoring the lives of the countless children who have been orphaned, abandoned, and abused. Asifiwe's desire is to restore hope and rebuild lives through providing a loving family, an education with academic and practical life skills, medical care and spiritual and emotional support. More about this ministry can be learned at http://asifiwechildcare.org/ The 5k loop will start and end at Tyler Park's Center for the Arts, and take you on a scenic loop so beautiful that you just might forget about the hills! Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. There won't be any hills on the fun walk. Registration is for ages 6 and up, but all ages are welcome! In addition, dogs are also welcome (on a leash please)! REGISTRATION FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS: $10/person (all ages) Day of registration may or may not be available depending on COVID status, T-shirts will not be guaranteed: $20/person EVENT DAY INFORMATION: Enter the park from Richboro Rd (332) The Start and Finish lines will be on either side of the Center for the Arts Registration/sign-in begins at 8:30am National Anthem/Announcements/Instructions will begin at 9:30am The Run/Walk will start promptly at 10:00am All registrants will receive a raffle ticket and be entered to win one of several gift baskets/gift cards on event day!
