Given the COVID-19 crisis, we have made the decision that this year's John Shapiro's Superheroes 5K race will be a VIRTUAL EVENT. It is our hope that during this difficult time, we can still come together in spirit virtually to provide the much-needed support to local families struggling right now with a child battling cancer. While this crisis is difficult for the healthiest of families, the struggles facing those who have a child undergoing cancer treatment are beyond devastating. They truly need our help now more than ever. Race t-shirt provided to all participants who register by May 20. The virtual race will take place all day on Saturday, June 6. Wear your Superheroes T-shirt, you pick the time, distance and location for your run or walk. After you finish, please share your photos and videos by posting to your personal Instagram or Facebook accounts and tagging us @johnshapirossuperhero5k or you can share your photos using our hashtag #johnshapiro5k. Not on social media? Please email your photos to and we will take care of posting for you! If you want to include your course distance and time, that is up to you. John Shapiro's Superheroes 5K is a tribute to the memory of a courageous little boy who lost his battle to brain cancer in August, 2011 at the age of six. John bravely battled his cancer, enduring four difficult years of surgeries and treatments with a strong resolve and a positive attitude. John touched and inspired so many lives with his engaging and heartwarming approach to life, leaving lasting memories with all those he encountered. No one could find the positive side of things better than John. We can all be a superhero if we live life like John- Be Happy and Love Everyone! All proceeds from the event will go to the John Shapiro Superheroes Foundation and will benefit local families with children battling cancer. For more information visit:
