The Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Run fundraiser sponsored by the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter, in partnership with AFSCME District Council 33 will be at Fairmount Park at Belmont Avenue and Avenue of the Republic, Philadelphia, PA. 19131 (across from Please Touch Museum). Founded in 1998 in memory of our agency co-founder, Rev. Walter E. Brandon, this event has served as a platform to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait, along with the importance of getting tested. Reverend Brandon lived with sickle cell disease, which influenced his life's work. Due to his dedication, love and compassion for adults and children living with the illness, the 5K walk/run was named in his honor. Program will be as follows: 7:00am - Pre-Registration Check-ins / On-site registration 7:15am – Opening Ceremony 8:25am – Runners commence 8:30am – Walkers commence 10:00am - 12 Noon – Networking with Community Vendors/Entertainment/Refreshments
