We will do everything in our power to hold the event rain or shine. If the forecast is iffy we will post an update by 11am on our facebook page at: www.facebook.com/UWChesterCounty and also on our event website at http://www.ConquerTheRunway.org Please check these sites frequently for updates. • As stated on the registration page when you registered, due to all of the expenses related to holding an event like this as well as the fact that it is a fundraiser, no refunds will be given for any reason. If you cannot participate you may still pick up your packet which includes a race t-shirt and sunglasses. If the event has to be postponed, it will be rescheduled for sometime this summer, most likely in July. Due to the unique venue of an airport runway we do not have a confirmed rain date at this time and we will do everything we can to hold the event on April 30th. • Early Packet Pickup will be held at the United Way of Chester County office at 211 North Walnut Street in West Chester next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday April 26-28 between the hours of 8:30am-5pm. (we will remain open until 6:30pm on Thursday). We have three free parking spaces along the Evans Alley side of our building and there are also metered spots on North Walnut Street across from our building. In addition, the Chestnut Street Garage is less than a block away. We encourage you to pick up your packet during these times to avoid having to wait in line on race day. If you cannot pick up your packet during early pick up you can pick it up at the event starting at Noon on race day. If you have a group of 10 or more feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com about the possibility of having your group’s packets delivered to one location. We would be happy to help you out if possible. • You may pick up a friend or family member’s packet, but we ask that you please notify them before doing so to prevent them from coming all the way out there for nothing. • Please check out: http://www.unitedwaychestercounty.org/sites/unitedwaychestercounty.org/files/Runway2017_THINGS_TO_KNOW.pdf for “Things to know” tips and info to help make your event experience more enjoyable. *******************NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR!!!*********************** United Way of Chester County is pleased to bring back the extremely popular Color 5K but this year we have stepped up our game! For the first time in Chester County history the color 5k will take place on an airport runway! That's right, we will be holding this year's event on the runway at the Brandywine Airport in West Chester. Due to the unique location of this year's event we expect the run to be bigger and better and it is expected to sell out quickly. What is the Live United in Color 5K Run & Walk? It is an UNTIMED 5K run/walk fundraiser designed to be fun, raise money for much needed community programs and promote people getting active. About every kilometer, participants will be doused with a colored powder in a fun and friendly atmosphere! (don’t worry, the -color- is just a cornstarch based powder that is non-toxic and biodegradable.) Participants will be asked to wear white, dress up in a crazy outfit if you want and prepare to participate in a 5K like no other! The event is open to all ages and athletic abilities. Even if you aren't a seasoned runner, it doesn't matter. This untimed 5K is more about having fun than running the perfect mile. So whether you plan to run, walk, skip or jump through the clouds of color, you will be sure to have fun. We want kids to be a part of this. This is about them Living United! We do recommend that your kids are properly protected with sunglasses, and for toddlers and infants, maybe even something to cover their mouth. The powdered paint is non-toxic and made mainly with corn starch, but it could irritate the smaller ones more than us. For the safety of our racers - bikes and skateboards are prohibited. Strollers are allowed but discouraged as we would hate to see you ruin an expensive stroller with color! For the safety of all of our runners…and for the dogs, NO DOGS will be permitted at the race. Please leave them home. There is no age limit for younger or older runners. We will have signage at the 2.5k spot for those with smaller legs…or those who are older but can not walk three miles.
