Hello friends & family,
As many of you know, we literally won the lottery this year, when Zephyr received a spot in the 2nd grade at Folk Arts-Community Treasures Charter School (FACTS) in Philadelphia's Chinatown. FACTS was founded by Asian Americans United and the Philadelphia Folklore Project in 2005 to create equity and justice for Asian American, immigrant, and refugee students of all races in the public schools. Folks arts are a thread throughout the academic and social learning, to promote and deepen the connection of each student to their own cultural identity, the wisdom of their elders, and the diverse cultures of their peers, teachers, and local Chinatown community.
On his fourth day at FACTS, Zephyr came home wanting to know more about his ancestors. I could not be more proud or grateful and I cannot wait to witness all of the radical ways this school will shape his sense of self and his future.
FACTS hosts a 5K race to raise money for special activities, programs, and equipment . It would mean so much to me and us if you would consider making a donation on Zephyr's behalf.
