Race Starts @ 10:0 AM

April 10, 2010, marks the launch a of a fun new road run in Bucks County, The NOTBOSTON 2.62 mile fun run. Held in Tyler State Park, Newtown, PA, the event is a tongue-in-cheek homage to the Boston Marathon. At a distance anyone can run or walk.

The course is a 1/10th scale of the world’s most renowned foot race. The elevation changes are nearly the same. The Boston Marathon is downhill for the first 9 miles. The NOTBOSTON course is downhill for the first .9 of a mile. Boston levels out until a series of famous hills starting at 17 miles. Our hill comes at 1.7 miles (and is actually taller than “Heartbreak Hill”. Each 10th of a mile mark will have a mile marker sign. The towns along the Boston Marathon and “T Station” locations will be acknowledged.

Some of the things the Boston Marathon is known for:
QUALIFYING
Runners must complete another certified marathon in a certain age-grade time.
The NOTBOSTON Fun Run is open to anyone who: didn't qualify for this year's Boston Marathon or qualified after the entry limit was reached or simply want to pay the entry fee to help the park.
MILE OF SOUND:
At the 12 Mile Mark Co-Eds from Wellesley College line both sides of the street; the noise can be heard from a mile away. Wait until you see what the NOTBOSTON course does.
CITGO SIGN:
The famous Fenway Field outfield sign can be seen from the 20 Mile Mark on. The base of the sign is One Mile from the finish. NOTBOSTON is hoping a petroleum company steps up!
THE HOME STRETCH:
“Right on Hereford, Left on Boylston” and you’re in the home stretch among towering skyscrapers.
The NOTBOSTON right and left before the finish leave participants finishing among towering pine trees.
AWARDS:
Overall Male and Female winners will receive laurel wreaths.
FINSH LINE TRADITION:
NOTBOSTON Finishers will be provided the traditional bowl of Irish stew, courtesy of Green Parrot in Newtown, PA.

NOTBOSTON Registrants will receive a commemorative sweatshirt. Music, fun, food, make for a memorable experience for participant and spectator alike.

The NOTBOSTON Fun Run benefits Tyler State Park Trail Maintenance Programs. Tyler Park was hard hit by the winter of 2009-10.

In 2007 there were 90 suicides here in Delaware County, which was a sharp spike from 60 in 2006. Each of these deaths leaves six to eight seriously bereaved individuals behind.

The mission of the Delaware County Suicide Prevention and Awareness Task Force (DCSPATF) is to raise an understanding of suicide as a preventable community health problem. The task force is affiliated with many behavioral health organizations in the county, the county medical society, local hospitals and health systems, our county government, the intermediate unit and many school districts in Delaware County.
Registration of $25(Children under 12 is free) includes free T-shirt, snack, beverage, and raffles/prizes. Medals will be awarded for various age groups. On-site registration will be $30. Rain or shine.

The Baldwin School Athletic Center
May 1, 2010
On-Site Registration Opens @ 8:00 AM
Race Starts @ 9:00 AM

Alexandra Wake, a gentle, talented 14 year old student at The Baldwin School, was the victim of a horrific act of domestic violence that took not only her life, but that of her mother and grandparents on January 15th, 2002.

Alex was a member of our cross-country and track teams and this memorial run/walk is the medium by which we celebrate her life.

Monies raised go towards the perpetual scholarship that bears her name. The scholarship assists a qualified student with demonstrated need to attend Baldwin. The Alex Wake ’05 Memorial Run/Walk not only raises funds for financial aid and Baldwin athletics, but also promotes the development of “Conflict Resolution” programs in our community of leaders and learners.

The 7th Annual Alex Wake Memorial 5K Run will start and finish on Baldwin’s campus on Saturday, May 1, 2010.

The event is a chip-timed 5K road race. A 1 mile walk route is also available.

Every registrant will receive a t-shirt and door prizes will be drawn the day of the event. Water, fruit and carbs are provided.

Prizes and medals will be awarded for the top three overall male and female runners. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female runners in eight different age groups.

Trophys will also be awarded for the top three student teams.

The annual Brian M. Anderson Memorial 5K Run, or the "BA5K", is an event organized to remember Brian Anderson. On Mother's Day, May 8th, 2005, Brian passed away at age 21 as a victim of an undiagnosed heart arrhythmia. Brian was known for his dedication to family and friends, his academic success, and for living life to the absolute fullest. The run raises funds for an academic scholarship at Washington Township High School and Villanova University, as well as funding research and awareness of Long QT / Brugada Syndrome and other heart arrhythmia.

Our run has grown every year – we had 360 for the first run, growing to over 900 for the 4th Annual BA5K in 2009. There is music, food, and fun for the entire family. It’s a great way to start your Mother’s Day – many of our participants have incorporated our run into their Mother’s Day traditions.

June 13, 2010
On-Site Registration Opens @ 07:00

Dawgs was created in memory of Danielle E. Bledy to support the beliefs and activities she was passionate about.

Danielle believed in being true to herself, her family, and friends. She loved animals, especially dogs, and hoped to become a veterinarian. That is why we support the no-kill animal shelter, Animal Orphanage in Voorhees, and why we will be offering scholarships to students pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.

Danielle loved to play basketball and attended Cherry Hill Township’s basketball camp as well as Great Times Day Camp. She loved these activities and we provide scholarships to deserving children with financial need. Great Times Day Camp generously provides a yearly two-week scholarship to camp which we match for another child.

The Memorial Serenity Garden at Beck Middle School was created through the donations of family, friends, and the community. We will replace items in the garden as needed.

Danielle was a budding artist and photographer. She drew the charity’s mascot herself after her dog Jake. We hope to provide scholarships to students interested in photography.

We are holding the run to raise money to fund the above mentioned causes as well as to fund research into Brain Aneurysms. An aneurysm caused Danielle’s untimely death, and we hope to find ways to detect aneurysms early to provide more positive outcomes for children and to spare families the grief and heartache we have experienced. We are contributing to the Brain Aneurysm Research Foundation. We will contribute to a researcher who will be testing for brain anomalies in uterus.
